3 simple ways to beating the Monday blues

Picture
Let's face it…no matter how much you love your job, Mondays are tough to face. It seems that your mind and body are just "disconnected" and getting them back is effort in itself. And if you are a stay at home parent, it is no easier, as you have to take care of everyone else's' Monday.

But don’t worry, here are 3 simple ways to beating the Monday blues:
  1. Set your alarm 15 minutes earlier than needed. You may think this is counter productive, but NOT having to jump out of bed will calm your nerves. Take these 15 extra minutes to read a few pages of a book, an inspirational quote, or meditate and reflect on some of the blessings you have in your life.
  2. Schedule 1 small thing you will do for yourself during your work or home lunch time…catch up with a work friend, call a friend. Sometimes just that little interaction with a loved one can lift your spirits and make you feel supported.
  3. Exercise! Yes, I am a trainer and yes, you knew I was going to say that…But wait, hear me out. Did you know that statistics claim that people that work out on Mondays are more likely to work out again during the week? Did you know that working out helps raise the levels of serotonin (good mood chemicals in the brain) which will also boost your energy levels and immunity? Remember, you don’t have to work out an hour, nor to kill it. All I am asking is to SHOW UP and NEVER GIVE UP (heard that one somewhere…).

Happy Monday and remember, happiness starts with YOU.
